  • 15 Best Completed Manhwa Series You Should Read, Ranked
    gamerant.com
The appeal and preference for Korean webcomics, also known as manhwa, has significantly increased in the last decade, and rightly so, given the apparent improvement in quality over time. However, the processes surrounding the production of these manhwas ensure that the illustration of these manhwas is more time-consuming than the average reader is willing to be patient with.

    blog.playstation.com
Ready your gear, check your ammo count and prepare to head Into The Radius on PlayStation VR2 on September 19. We at CM Games are immensely proud to be bringing our hit VR survival shooter to the PlayStation platform for the first time ever.Play VideoWe believe VR is a powerful medium that allows you to immerse yourself further into the gaming experience. And, like many of you, we want deep experiences with rich gameplay, intense action, and smart interactions that get the best out of VR. Our goal with Into The Radius was to deliver exactly that kind of experience. But, wait, what is Into The Radius? Were glad you asked! An intense survival FPS, built for VRInto The Radius is a grueling, hardcore VR survival shooter set in a mysterious, supernatural wasteland known as the Pechorsk Anomaly. This desolate, surreal landscape is filled with mysterious and deadly anomalies. To explore its mysteries and return home with loot, players must carefully manage their inventory, and use their tactical skill and situational awareness to overcome, outsmart or outrun various dangers in the Radius.Besides using a variety of weapons with realistic handling, different ammo, attachments and upgrades, you need to clean and maintain firearms in order to ensure they work well in the field. Neglect this maintenance and youll be putting yourself at risk, so make sure to check in on their status between missions.Physical interactions with items are also core to the Into The Radius experience. Weve gone to great lengths to make players feel like theyre really stepping into the harrowing world weve created. Youll interact with a paper map and compass, audio cassettes and food as if you were really using them in the physical world. Never has survival gameplay felt so real!New features for PS VR2The PS VR2 version of the game will feature the entire original experience with 20+ hours of gameplay, but were also working hard to make sure this edition really reaches its full potential. That means a smooth, native 90FPS experience that uses the power of the PS5 console, combined with eye-tracked foveated rendering, to get the best balance of performance and visual fidelity. It also means were utilizing many of the great features unique to PS VR2. Squeeze the adaptive triggers on the Sense controllers for dynamic feedback when firing weapons, and feel the impact of enemy attacks with headset haptics. These are features never before seen in our game, and were really excited to see how players react to the added immersion they provide. You can also immerse yourself deeper into the world of Into The Radius with mesmerizing 3D Audio that truly roots you in wasteland. Never before has the Pechorsk Anomaly sounded so eerily convincing!Arriving on PlayStation for the first timeWhen all combined together, these features make for one of our favorite versions of our game, and a powerfully immersive way to explore the wasteland. In fact, its been a dream of ours to bring Into The Radius to PlayStation for many years, having worked on the project for over five years now! Were confident that weve taken our time and done this version justice. For those of you that have been following our progress, rest assured itll be worth the wait!Theres more to share about this version of the game but, rest assured, youre not going to have to wait too long. Into The Radius reaches PS VR2 on September 19, and you can pre-order now to save 10% on the full price ahead of launch. Well see you in the wasteland!

  • Gourdlets is the laid-back building sim for people sick of the grind
    www.polygon.com
Gourdlets is like the retirement stage of building sims.Playing it feels more like if Tom Nook decided to abandon profiting off your debt in Animal Crossing or if you never had to worry about your Sim setting the house on fire or getting sick. In other words, Gourdlets is a lovely time for anyone looking to build an adorable town and take a break from the digital grind. The game tells you via a text tutorial at the beginning that any town you make in Gourdlets doesnt have any money and the little anthropomorphized gourd creatures will be content no matter what you build them. We tried explaining capitalism to the gourdlets but it made them feel too tired, so you dont have to worry about managing currency or resources, the text reads.Learning to play is a breeze. I played on Windows PC and the tutorial introduces you to a column of buttons, each with its own function: The build menupulls up a little catalog of objects you can use to build out your town; the bulldoze objects & fences lets you demolish stuff youve built. It probably took me five minutes to begin the game and get to work making a little town square for the little guys. You play the game from an isometric view, which you can rotate by 90 degrees to see your pixelated creations from different angles. Little touches, like a toggle that allows you to draw straight lines with decorative tiles or the ability to edit the number of tiles you want to place when you make a path, make building the crunchy pixelated paths and objects super satisfying. Loads of items like benches, buildings, and cobblestone paths come in a variety of rainbow pastel colors right from the get-go with no grinding. I could build the Candy Land cottagecore town of my dreams.True to its promise, you can really putz around and do whatever. The game uses a system where you invite gourdlets to town, seemingly as many times as you want. (The game didnt stop me, but I imagine theres a limit at some point.) You dont manage the gourdlets, so you can sit back and build as the creatures play and grow up. Once you get more mature gourdlets, you can unlock more items.I started with making a town square, but I didnt enjoy it as much as designing some nature areas, so I switched to making forest campgrounds complete with glowing critters, mushrooms, and string-lit paths. I didnt feel like the game incentivized either way of playing regardless of whether I chose to make them a more formal town or focus on building nature areas.According to the studios Steam page, this is the debut game from AuntyGames, and its an absolute gem. Whether its taking a moment to appreciate a gourdlet watering a garden or finding the perfect placement for a shell on the beach, Im obsessed with this sleepy little sim.Gourdletswas released Aug. 24 on Windows, Linux, and Mac. The game was reviewed on Windows using a pre-release download code provided by Future Friends Games. Vox Media has affiliate partnerships. • How To Defend Your Design Process
    smashingmagazine.com
Maybe youve been there before: Youre in the middle of the design process, and stakeholders expect you to deliver faster. How do you best manage a situation like this? How do you communicate the design process and defend it when stakeholders think the design is taking too long?Lets take a closer look at what you can do to clarify false expectations and prevent them in the first place. This article is part of our ongoing series on UX. You can find more details on design patterns and UX strategy in Smart Interface Design Patterns with live UX training coming up this year. Free preview. Why Stakeholders Ask For Quicker Turnaround Polished deliverables hide the process. When you show someone a polished, final design, they probably wont see the complexity of the work behind it unless they are a designer themself, of course. Thats the knowledge gap that lies between designers and stakeholders and one of the reasons why stakeholders might make false assumptions about how long the design will take. Polished deliverables suggest a fast production time. Not familiar with the design process, stakeholders often track value in UX deliverables in an attempt to measure design and the progress made. And that can lead to a dilemma: When more final, polished deliverables arrive quickly, stakeholders also assume a faster production time. The real value of design, however, lies in the quality of the process behind it.How To Get Support From StakeholdersDesign is all about well-orchestrated feedback loops. For different audiences, from customers and designers to developers and stakeholders. Cutting corners breaks these feedback loops. The result is poor inputs that lead to poor outcomes often reversible but sometimes damaging for years to come.Protecting the design process isnt only in the interest of the designers but, most importantly, in the interest of the user and the business. So, how can we advocate for it? Highlight user value. One mistake to avoid is to present deliverables as finished. Emphasize that you are still testing and highlight that the design process is a way to maximize user value and that business value comes from user value, not the other way around. No productivity optimization can automate user value, and there is no later phase to patch broken design work. Ask for uninterrupted time.To get the time you and your team need to design, it might be an option to suggest uninterrupted times for heads-down design work. You could also suggest shifting priorities or reducing the overall scope. Be sincere about the process. Also, remember to calibrate expectations: You dont know how your stakeholders work, so you shouldnt expect that they know and understand the design process. The more sincere you are about whats needed to be ready, the more likely you are to get understanding and support, rather than fast turnaround requests. Visualize progress. As designers, we often get defensive, not showing the work until we feel that its in good shape. Personally, I found it remarkably helpful to show the design progress to stakeholders early and repeatedly instead. Not to ask for a personal opinion on the design but if they think it actually helps deliver user value.A great technique to visualize the complexity of UX work is event storming well take a closer look at how it works in a second. To keep stakeholders on top of things, it might also be a good idea to report progress proactively. So why not opt for a short, two-minute video update once a week?Exercise: Event StormingThe most impactful way to be transparent about the process and explain why design takes time is to visualize it. Not as abstract Double-Diamond or Triple-Diamond diagrams, but as messy, real-world sticky notes on a huge Miro or FigJam board with all the pieces of work needed to get to final deliverables. How To Run An Event Storming SessionBasically, we bring everyone involved in the project on board for a 2-hour session. We set orange sticky notes as events required for the success of the project on a timeline. Then, we cluster these events and break them across lanes, with everything from user testing and stakeholder approval to research tasks and design initiatives. The resulting timeline visualizes the process and acts as a reference for the work to be done, or the work completed. Sometimes, we add multiple lanes to map the work across different UX activities, e.g., UX research, UX metrics, and so on. Your timeline might also include any other teams and domains that are relevant to the work think technical details, risks, stakeholder engagement, user testing, and others. The Value Of Event StormingTo me, event storming creates a much more honest and real visualization of the design process compared to any diamond diagrams that we often use. Its messy, its complex, its difficult, and it matches the complexity of real life. Plus, its customized to the needs of a specific project, with people who must be involved for successful delivery.I cant emphasize enough just how incredibly impactful this little exercise can be to create a shared understanding about what we are doing, how we are doing it, and what is required from all teams for a successful delivery. I hope it will help you defend your process the next time stakeholders ask for a quicker turnaround.
